Recently I had the chance to visit AK Group<\/strong> \u2014 one of the most impressive and professionally run dairy farms I\u2019ve seen in the hill tracts area, located in Manikchari Upazila<\/strong>, Khagrachari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This large-scale modern dairy farm currently manages hundreds of high-yield developed cows<\/strong> (mostly good quality crossbreds). The daily milk production reaches an impressive around 1200 liters<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All this fresh milk is sold at 90 Taka per liter<\/strong> in nearby towns and the upazila sadar \u2014 very good price for both the farm and the local consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s even more remarkable is the full breeding cycle they\u2019re successfully running \u2014 the farm sees the birth of hundreds of baby calves<\/strong> every year, which helps them keep growing the herd while maintaining very good quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some other interesting things I noticed during the visit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022  Very organized & clean cow sheds with good ventilation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022  Proper milking system & equipment<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022  Large amounts of stored dry grass\/hay (you can see huge stacks everywhere)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022  Good drainage system around the sheds<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022  Solar panels installed (both on sheds and in some other places)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022  Spacious fenced grazing\/paddock areas<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most impressive of all \u2014 around 30 workers<\/strong> are regularly employed at the farm!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is creating very meaningful year-round employment for local people \u2014 really beautiful to see a big-scale modern farm providing so many steady jobs in a rural upazila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AK Group is a perfect example that shows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modern dairy farming + good management + serious investment \u2192 can create excellent production + strong local employment + quality milk supply for the community<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re ever around Manikchari, this is definitely worth visiting \u2014 very inspiring and well-organized operation! \ud83d\udc04\u2728<\/p>\n\n\n\n
